How to check shutter count on a Canon camera

Checking the shutter count on a Canon camera can be slightly more complicated than other brands, as Canon does not officially provide this information within the camera itself.

However, the shutter count is often embedded within the image metadata of photos taken with the camera, especially when using RAW files such as CR2 or CR3.

  1. Take a photo with your camera.
  2. Upload the original image file, preferably a CR2 or CR3 file.
  3. The tool will scan the metadata and extract the shutter count where available.

Keep in mind that not all Canon models expose shutter count data in EXIF metadata, but many modern models do. This tool provides a quick and easy way to check without needing to install any software.

Add an original Canon CR3 file to get started.
