How to check shutter count on a Nikon camera

Nikon cameras make it relatively straightforward to check shutter count, as the information is usually stored in the EXIF metadata of images taken with the camera.

The shutter count, or actuation count, shows how many photos have been taken, which is especially useful when buying or selling used equipment.

  1. Take a photo using your camera.
  2. Upload the original image file, JPG or NEF.
  3. The tool will read the metadata and display the shutter count.

Because everything runs in your browser, your images stay private and are not uploaded to any server. It is one of the quickest ways to check a Nikon camera's usage.

Add an original Nikon NEF file to get started.
